Match Play. 0-0 to 7. How should Red play 42?

A complex position and it is easy to go wrong here.

Red is running out of time and can’t keep all three points in White’s home board. He doesn’t have the timing for a deep back game and so the four should be played 24/20. The ace-point may be remade later.

Red can win this game by going either forward or backward. He can’t blitz White so he should go for the priming approach and the key point he needs to make is his 6-pt. Therefore the 2 should be play 8/6*. If the blot is hit he can fall back on his back game plan. If not, he hopes to make the 6-pt next time.

Note that 8/6*/2* follows the wrong game plan and is therefore a bad error.
