In days or yore everybody would have played 13/7, 8/7, picked up the dice and thought no more about it.
Nowadays we recognise that Red is way ahead in the race and needs to get his back checkers moving now.
Any move other than 24/23, 24/18 is an outright blunder. White cannot be given the freedom of the board so Red must challenge for an advanced anchor now.
