Match Play. 0-0 to 7. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?
Not many people would think of doubling this position and not doubling is the correct decision, but doubling is only a mistake and not technically an error.
It just goes to demonstrate the power of a five-point board coupled with your opponent having multiple outside checkers. In this position fully two-thirds of Red’s wins are gammons.
Of course, if Red doubles and then rolls double sixes he will know the backgammon Gods are on his side!
