Match Play. 1-1 to 7. How should Red play 31?
It is ever so easy to play 9/8, 9/6 here - it is the reflex move.
However, that is a blunder. The correct move is 9/5, making the home board. Now the pressure is on White to roll a two. If he rolls a two then he will be winning but most other rolls severely weaken his position, especially 63, 64 and 65. Meanwhile Red has a good spare on his 9-pt.
6/5, 6/3 is a triple blunder – Red needs that strong home board.
