Unlimited Games. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?
Nearly all the formulae get this wrong because they underestimate the gap on Red’s 4-pt and also the strength of the three checkers on White’s 4-pt. Remember the old adage, “you can never have too many checkers on your 4-pt”.
This position is a classic demonstration of the truth of that adage. The formulae all make this double/pass but in fact it is clearly a huge double (worse than a double blunder not to double) and a skinny take.
