Match Play. Red leads 2-0 to 3 (Crawford). How should Red play 42?

Pure play or safe play?

Both 20/14 and 13/7 are reasonable pure plays but they turn out to be small errors.

With such a close race the pure plays must be relegated to second place. The safe 6/2, 3/1 turns out be correct. It looks ugly but it is necessary. The trouble with both 20/14 and 13/7 is that they expose two blots. Red should wait and hope to only expose one blot next turn.
