Match Play. Red leads 5-3 to 7. How should Red play 65?


For money the right play would be 22/11.

However, at this score the cube will becoming whenever White sees any chance of a gammon and he would double after 22/11. In fact, he will double after 13/7, 6/1* as well.

Only after 13/2 should he hold the cube so that would be my preferred play. At this score in this type of situation I learned long ago that holding onto the anchor is nearly always correct.

13/2 it is.
