Position 152 is my final Position of the Day.
After 2,832 positions over nearly twelve years, it is time for a change. The number of views no longer justify the effort required to produce a daily problem.
For the next four weeks I will be off the air completely as we have major renovation works going on in our house.
From Friday 1st November I will start “Position of the Week”. A position will be posted each Friday, and the solution will be posted on the following Monday. Whether or not this becomes a regular feature will depend upon how many views it attracts.
One of the reasons for the change is to give me time to finally write, “Backgammon - A Guide to Doubling”. This book is intended as a companion to “Backgammon to Win” and it will be aimed at beginners and intermediates and not experts. Chapter 1 was written eighteen months ago!
In case you are not aware I write a weekly article for “The Times” every Friday. In addition, I also write a weekly article for the US Backgammon Federation under the title, “Bray’s Learning Curve”. Subscriptions are required to access these articles.
Thank you to everybody who has become a member of my website and a special thank you to those who have taken the time to comment on the positions. I have learned a lot writing them and I hope your knowledge has taken a step or two forwards along the way.
Chris
Thank you for the educational puzzles and solutions. I extend my best wishes for the successful completion of your renovation project. I eagerly anticipate the release of your upcoming book.
Thank you so much for these, and for continuing to do these, and for everything you do for this amazing game of ours! 😎
