For money the hit 6/4*/3 is correct but only just. It wins more games but loses more gammons and the trade-off is very close as you can see from the rollout.
At the match score the hit is clearly correct. Those extra gammons get Red to the Crawford Game and therefore the extra risk is acceptable.
