The question is whether Red needs to roll a two before he can redouble?
The answer is no. White’s two checkers on the bar mean that Red Is a favourite in this position. Note that his first two will, in any event, be played 24/22 and not 5/3. The position is volatile because Red will lose his market if he rolls a six next turn, and he has sufficient timing to escape his checker on the 24-pt. Nearly half his wins will be gammons so he should increase the stakes now and not wait a roll.
In addition, Red will get some drops here. The prospect of losing four points may well deter White from taking.
White will still win 40% of the time but that should not stop Red from doubling now. Red's glass is half full not half empty. Not doubling now is a blunder according to XG.
