Match Play. 0-0 to 9. How should Red play 61?

Red owns the cube so is no danger of losing the game. He can therefore play very aggressively for the gammon and this best done 5/off, 5/4*.

This gains hugely when White rolls 11, 33 or 31 and in some variations he can pick up the checker on White’s 8-pt. Any other move is an error. Red gains enough extra gammons to make 5/off, 5/4* the best play.
