Match Play. 4-4 to 7. Should Red redouble? If redoubled, should White take?
These high anchor positions are deceptive. White has more equity than you might think. His holding game plus the fact that Red still must escape from behind White’s prime gives White a trivial take. In addition, White loses very few gammons so playing on by Red would be a gross error.
In fact, Red is not quite strong enough to redouble. Of course, if you think White might drop because of Red’s full prime then, by all means, go ahead and redouble.
