Match Play. 0-0 to 5. Should Red redouble? If redoubled, should White take?

This is a mandatory practical redouble because you will get a lot of passes as White has visions of losing a gammon and the match.

Technically this is no redouble but only just.

Red has no direct cover numbers for the 3-pt blot. Meanwhile White does have a four-point prime with four Red checkers trapped behind it. Red’s big numbers play well but his small numbers do not. XG has White winning 35% of the time.

These factors mean that Red should hold on to the cube and play for a gammon if things go well, but as noted above, in practice you must redouble this position.
