Match Play. Red leads 10-5 to 11 (Crawford). How should Red play 11?


White is at gammon go so Red must take care. While 5/4(2)*, 3/2(2)* looks good the priority is to escape the checker on the 23-pt.

 

Therefore, one of the aces must be 23/22. After that the rest is simple. 8/7 to hide the blot and 5/4(2)* to gain a tempo. Other plays such as 23/22, 7/6, 5/4(2)* are small errors but if your solution did not include 23/22 then you were barking up the wrong tree.
