Match Play. Blue leads 5-1 to 7. How should Blue play 55?


Two on the bar, better by far. Have you ever heard that before?


10/5*, 8/3(2), 6/1 looks good but only leaves one cover number and if White does roll a 5 then Blue will be in trouble because of his rear checkers.


The correct play is 21/11*, 10/5*, 6/1. That play win 6% more games and 6% more gammons so it is a no-brainer. Every other play is at least a triple blunder.
