Match Play. 0-0 to 5. Should Blue redouble? If redoubled, should White take?
Clearly a redouble due to the volatility.
Blue will stay out sixteen times out of thirty-six rolls and White will follow that with a six, eleven times out of thirty-six. That gives White nearly fourteen percent. That sequence can repeat although White may have a weaker board.
White’s additional scramble vig plus 8% gammons give him an easy take. Dropping is nearly a blunder.
This is an excellent reference position so make a note of it. If White has only a three-point board it is a big pass. If White has a five-point board it is not even a redouble. As Robertie says, “everything matters”.
