Match Play. Red trails 0-1 to 5. How should Red play 43?

With a 42-pip deficit in the race Red simply cannot afford to play safe and therefore he must hit with 8/5*.

If he is hit on the 5-pt he is probably lost anyway so as the saying goes, “in for a penny, in for a pound”. Therefore, he should maximise covers and his attacking force with 13/9. Any play other than 13/9, 8/5* is a blunder.
