Match Play. Red trails 0-2 to 9. Should Red redouble? If redoubled, should White take?
This is clearly no redouble for money as Red has only a ten-pip lead in the race and a great deal of work to do to win the position. In addition, he has only a few market losing sequences.
Does the match score make a difference? Yes, it does, but not enough to make it a correct redouble. If you change the score to 0-3 then it is a redouble by a small margin, probably because a gammon for Red would get him to Crawford with White on an odd number which is very good for Red.
Of course, if White is very timid, by all means spin the cube. You only need 7.5% drops to make this a correct double.
