Match Play. Red trails 2-3 to 5. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?
As we know most prime versus prime positions are both doubles and takes. For money this one is not yet a double although Red’s position looks powerful but a one or a two from White on his next roll will put the pressure on Red, especially if combined a six.
The score changes everything. At 3-away versus 2-away it is correct to both double early as the leader and to drop early as the trailer. That theory applies here. Red should double and although it is close White should drop and make the next game DMP.
