Match Play. Red leads 6-0 to 7 (Crawford). How should Red play 42?

We have seen positions like this before. If you have seen the technique before it is easy, if not it is very difficult. The two checkers on Red’s 3-pt are out of play as far as priming is concerned and they need to be brought into play.

White has terrific timing for his back game so Red needs to slow down. After playing either 13/9 or 12/8 with the four the correct two is 3/1*. This hopefully forces White to hit somewhere and therefore slow Red down.

Any other move except 7/1*, which is merely an error, is a big blunder.
