Such positions need a formula to get close to the correct answer. If you have read my paper on “Backgammon Races” from the download section of this website, then you can use Trice or Reichart but even they need a bit of tweaking to allow for White’s checker on his 14-pt and his 5-checkers on his 4-pt with none on his 3-pt.
Take one checker from White’s 4-pt and put it on his 3-pt and you get a hugely different answer.
The formulae will tell you that this is neither a double from the centre or a redouble.
