Match Play. Red trails 1-2 to 7. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?

For money this would be nowhere near a double. Positions where you hold three back game points rarely are because there can only be a maximum of nine checkers in the attack zone.

Because Red trails in the match and White’s structure is so bad, with two dead checkers on his ace-point and six virtually useless checkers on his 3-pt, this is a double, but it is also a trivial take. White wins 30% of the time and two-thirds of those wins are gammons.

If the score was 2-2 this would be a big no double.
