Unlimited Games. Should Blue double? If doubled, should White take?
The 3-pt anchor (now known as the butterfly anchor) is remarkably resilient and leads, in the main, to relatively non-volatile positions.
This position falls into that category. White has a dead checker, but the rest are in play, particularly if Blue can’t escape his rear checker next turn.
Crucially White has a twenty-two-pip lead in the race.
Many would double here but, actually, Blue should wait. There aren’t enough market losing sequences to justify turning the cube. Of course, if you think White might drop then, by all means, double.
