Match Play. Blue trails 1-2 to 5. Should Blue double? If doubled, should White take?
Anybody who would take this double as White at this score should go and see a backgammon doctor!
The real question is whether Blue should play on for a gammon.
Common sense should prevail because Blue’s structure is far from perfect and even if he does close out two checkers, he will only win a gammon just over 40% of the time.
So, Blue should double and White should drop.
