Match Play. Red trails 6-7 to 11. How should Red play 53?


When in doubt, hit. But not here. That is the second-best move.


Taking the anchor with bar/20, 23/20 is just too passive, leaving White multiple attacking options and potentially losing ground in the race.


Because White has limited forces in his attack zone the best move is the offensive bar/20, 8/5, securing the golden point.


Hitting bar/20/17* is only just an error while bar/20, 23/20 is narrowly a blunder.
