Match Play. Double Match Point. How should Red play 62?
Red will need to hit a shot to win the game. His best chance of achieving that lies in getting good outer board coverage. Therefore, he should play 24/16, paying off to aces and eights. If either checker is hit Red will still have chances if he can re-enter quickly.
18/16, 9/3 is too open and 9/3, 4/2 gives White too much choice on some of his small numbers.
Both of those plays are very nearly blunders, winning the game about 29.5% of time whereas 24/16 wins 33% of the time.
