Unlimited Games. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?

This position actually occurred in a match where double/pass was very clear because of the score but I thought I would see what the money game result would be.

This is a must double because of the very high percentage of gammons won by Red. He is likely to run out on his next roll and if White misses the double shot (or doesn’t even get a shot) he will be in deep trouble.

On the flip side if White can hit Red or Red doesn’t escape, he will have very good containment chances and in fact he will win more than 40% of the games.

Not doubling is nearly a triple blunder while dropping as White would be a quadruple blunder. It looks simple when analysed in the clear light of day but under pressure many would get both decisions wrong over the board.
