Match Play. Red leads 3-1 to 7. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?

Can Red roll a three before White rolls a five? He is on roll so he is the favourite. Note that if he wins a gammon he will win the match.

This is a great pressure double and must be given. Not doubling is a blunder. Red’s sixes will soon be killed. At worst Red will have to drop the redouble but that is a two-point loss rather than one. On the plus side the gammon is a match winner.

The glass is half full here. Double and easy take.
