Match Play. 8-8 to 11. How should Red play 11?

The question here is whether Red should slot the 3-pt. The answer is an emphatic yes with 23/22, 8/6, 5/4 being very close to a blunder.

White’s timing for the 1-2 back game is poor so if Red can make his 3-pt that would be ideal. The correct play is 23/22, 8/7, 5/3. If the slotted blot is hit that will slow Red down which is what he wants.

Occasionally it will allow White to switch to a 1-3 or 2-3 back game but those instances are rare and the risk is certainly worth the reward.
