Unlimited games. Should Red redouble? If redoubled, should White take?
A volatile position indeed. Red has twenty shots and he will nearly certainly lose his market if he hits the exposed White checker. Red will also win a fair percentage of gammons if he hits the blot.
However, sixteen numbers don’t hit and if White then rolls a six he will have a strong position. Note also that White leads by a not insignificant thirty-eight pips.
This turns out to be much more of a take than a double but due to the volatility and the gammons it is just a double. The take is trivial and dropping would be worse than a triple blunder.
