The position is volatile and Red the advantage in position and threat and so doubling is correct. Not doubling would be a blunder.

From White’s perspective all his checkers are in play and, crucially, he has an anchor in Red’s board and Red is yet to make his 4-pt. This gives him a comfortable take. Dropping would be a double blunder.
