Match Play. Red trails 1-2 to 7. How should Red play 44?

It looks nice to play 18/14, 13/9, 6/2(2) but White’s strong board dictates a different game plan, namely safety first.

The correct play is 18/12, 13/9 and it is not even close. When your opponent has a four-point home board caution is normally, but not always, advised.
