Match Play. Red leads 4-2 to 5 (post-Crawford). How should Red play 64?


8/4, 8/2 merely postpones the problem and by next turn White’s board may be stronger.


This is a ‘pay-me-now, pay-me-later’ problem where paying now is clearly correct. 18/8 is the only viable move. 13/9, 13/7 is nearly a double blunder while 8/4, 8/2 is even worse, a 2.5 blunder.
