Unlimited Games. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?
From time to time I include what I call standard reference positions. This is a 5-pt holding game but Red also holds his 10-pt and 9-pt so it is easier to clear the mid-point. Normally Red would need a 20-pip advantage to double but those extra outer board points compensate for only having a 17-pip lead.
The position is volatile enough to double as most doubles will lose Red’s market. This is a comfortable double and a very easy take. I suggest varying the staring position to understand how different factors influence the doubling decisions.
