Match Play. Double Match Point. How should Red play 63?

“Two on the bar is better by far” is a useful maxim and it solves this problem.

It is the fastest route to victory. There is some short-term risk but unless White rolls a 2 or 44 his chances will be severely diminished.

The quiet 22/13 is the next best play and it is not an error. However, both 13/7*, 10/7 and 13/10, 13/7* are blunders. Too many return shots and too much work to do to still to win the game. If White anchors on Red’s 2-pt he is in the game for a long time.

Best to grab the bull by the horns, 13/7*, 5/2* it is.
