Money play. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?
Crunched positions like this one are quite often double and pass and my first inclination was that indeed, White should pass, but here White has several things going for him: he has the stronger home board; he leads in the race by 24 pips; Red has a dilly builder on his 3-pt and, finally, very few numbers force him to run off Red’s 5-pt immediately.
The position is volatile enough that Red should double but White has a comfortable take based on the factors above. Passing would be a double blunder.
