Money Play. How should Red play 33?

I got this one wrong, playing 10/4, 6/3(2)*. This is safe and solid but not correct.

Much better is 24/18*, 6/3(2)*, which does much more to further Red’s game at the risk of leaving 12 shots. He gains in the race, gets the rear checkers moving and destroys Red’s bar-point slot.

The upside is much greater than the downside and the solid play is an error but not a blunder.
