Money Play. How should Red play 31?

This type of position is commonly misplayed by moving 5/1, saving a four on the next roll. For example, a roll of 42 could be played safely. Much more likely is that White will go with one checker and then the blot left on the 5-pt becomes a liability if Red wants to pick and pass next time or even if he has to hit loose on the 6-pt.

Correct is either 4/3, 4/1 or 5/4, 5/2. There is nothing to choose between those two plays.
