Money Play. How should Red play 54?

A passive play is out of the question here. 13/9, 13/8 gives White far too much control.

9/5* must be part of the solution. The question is whether to play 13/8 or go for the Double Tiger with 6/1*. The advantage of the double hit is that White must spend the whole of his next turn re-entering his checkers from the bar and, if he doesn’t roll a 5 or a 1, Red will have the initiative.

As is often the case the more aggressive play turns out to be correct. Double Tiger it is.

13/8, 9/5* is an error.
