Match Play. Red leads 5-2 to 7. How should Red play 42?

Red should minimise shots as his opponent has a five-and-a-half point board.

It is choice between 5/3, 5/1*, and 4/off, 3/1*. The facts that 5/3, 5/1*, clears the highest point and makes Red’s subsequent rolls easier to play swings the decision in favour of that play.

4/off, 3/1* is an error.

5/1*, 3/1, leaving 15 shots instead of 11, is an outright blunder.
