Money Play. How should Red play 64?
Running off the anchor with 21/11 is the wrong idea.
The right idea is to strengthen the home board before attempting to run. ‘Put them where you want them’ is a useful backgammon maxim. Here that works beautifully and Red should play 10/4, 8/4.
This creates a strong four-point prime and the blots left exposed are not in much danger, especially as White would have to give up Red’s bar-point to hit.
Any play other than 10/4, 8/4 is a blunder or worse.
