Unlimited Games. How should Red play 44?

The key factor here is the strength of White’s home board. Red can afford to have one blot, but he certainly cannot afford to have two.

17/9, 13/9, 6/2 is one try but 17/9, 13/9(2) is by far the strongest move. In fact, every other move is a blunder, and some are double blunders.

As in any position it is vital to understand which elements dominate the decision-making process. Here White’s four-point home board is the most important factor to consider. Once you understand that it is easy to find the best play.
