Unlimited Games. How should Blue play 64?

9/3* with the six is clear. The question is the four.

7/3 goes for the blitz. 24/20 recognises the need to do something about the back checkers and get some coverage of the outer boards.

It turns out that getting a back checker moving takes priority over making the 3-pt. As ever XG is wary of crunching with a large double next turn. 24/20, 9/3* wins 3% more games than 9/3*, 7/3. In this instance the balanced play comes out ahead of the blitz attack.

This is not an easy problem, but it does provide some good learning points.it is one I will be using with my students.
