Unlimited Games. Should Red double? If doubled, should White take?
On a point clarity “Unlimited Games” always means the Jacoby Rule is always in effect.
This is a huge double because of the high percentage of gammon wins, nearly 40%, but it is also a very comfortable take because White wins 40% of the time. The position is hugely volatile. Red has some immediate horror numbers such as 33, 43 and 44. White’s anchor will generate a good number of wins for him.
Not doubling is nearly a triple blunder while passing is merely a blunder.
Chris, the Backgammon Glossary within the Backgammon Galore website (which I Googled on the subject) specifies no Jacoby, no Beavers, no Automatic Doubles.
I am confused!
