Match Play. 0-0 to 5. How should Red play 51?

With a big racing deficit bar/20, 24/23 is not the right idea and is quite a big error. It is not clear that Red wants an advanced anchor rather than the ace-point.

Much better is bar/20. 6/5 getting another checker into play while keeping an anchor. It nicely duplicates ones and threes. Bar/20, 8/7 is a do nothing play, and it is a bad blunder.

Getting the 6-pt unstacked and the checkers working for a living is a key aspect of many opening sequences.
