Match Play. 0-0 to 5. Should Red redouble? If, redoubled, should White take?
The volatility is sky high so Red should definitely redouble. Not redoubling is nearly a blunder.
However, White has plenty of winning chances even if Red makes his 5-pt (note that 11 doesn’t make the full prime) as he has a very effective four-point prime of his own and Red may not be able to escape his rear checkers.
It is easy to be pessimistic as White, but he wins from here nearly a third of the time, so it is an easy take and nearly a double blunder to drop. Of course, Red may win a gammon and the match but that doesn’t mean it is not a take.
