At a time when Red has no anchor, he should be looking to strengthen his home board against a forthcoming attack. Over the board 13/9, 6/1* was played on the theory of attacking a lone checker but that is the wrong game plan.
Correct is 9/4, 8/4 securing a long-term asset and strengthening the home board. Hitting is a blunder and 13/9, 13/8 is not much better. Take that asset!
