Match Play. 0-0 to 7. How should Red play 41?

To slot or not to slot, that is the question.

The answer is that this is a tie with your opponent having a three-point home board.

If it was two points you would definitely slot. If it was four points you definitely wouldn’t. At three points it is break even, 12/8, 6/5 and 20/16, 12/11 are tied for first place so take your pick.

The key here is to learn the break-even point of three home board points.
