Money Play. Should Red redouble? If redoubled, should White take?

Now we see why not redoubling in Position 223 was correct. Red hit but White entered first time. A move later we have reached this position.

This type of position is well-known. Red’s total outfield coverage means that White does not escape often enough to give him a take. He wins about 21% of the time and that is not enough.

If Red had doubled in Position 223 and White had taken, White would now own the cube and therefore win 21% of the time. As it is, he will win 0% of the time.

This concept of “Cube Future Value” is an important one. By holding the cube in position 223 Red can use it to win the game at precisely the right moment in Position 224.
